MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE 2025

Royal Decree 87/2025, Establishing the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI) for 2025 (BOE 12/02/2025)

New Minimum Wage Amount (Increase of 4.41% Compared to 2024)

The new SMI is set as follows:

  • Daily wage: €39.47
  • Monthly wage: €1,184 (for full-time work, excluding prorated extra payments)
  • Monthly wage with prorated extra payments: €1,381.33
  • Annual wage: €16,576 (including two extra payments)
  • Temporary and seasonal workers (with contracts of up to 120 days): €56.08 per working day, including proportional extra payments and holidays.
  • Domestic workers (hourly basis): €9.26 per hour worked.

It is important to note that in-kind payments cannot reduce these minimum amounts.

Effective Date and Duration

  • The decree takes effect on February 13, 2025 (the day after its publication in the BOE).
  • The new SMI applies retroactively from January 1, 2025, and remains in force until December 31, 2025.

Application Rules and Exceptions

Compensation and Absorption

If an employee already earns more than the annual SMI, this increase does not affect their salary.
