MANDATORY OCCUPATIONAL RISK ASSESSMENT FOR DOMESTIC WORKERS – DEADLINE UNTIL NOVEMBER 2025.

Dear Readers,

We inform you that, in compliance with Royal Decree 893/2024, all domestic employers are required to carry out a risk assessment in the household where services are provided. This measure aims to protect the health and safety of domestic workers, aligning this sector with the general labor regulations applied to other types of employment.

Free Tool Now Available

Since May 14, 2025, the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy has made available an official, free, and online tool at: https://www.prevencion10.es, specifically designed to help domestic employers:

  • Carry out a simple, guided self-assessment of risks in their home.

  • Generate a personalized report with recommended preventive measures.

  • Download the document to keep at home and provide a copy to the domestic worker.

Deadline to Comply: November 14, 2025

A six-month period has been granted from the release date of the tool for all employers to complete the process. Therefore, by November 14, 2025, you must:

  • Have completed the risk assessment.

  • Have adopted the necessary preventive measures.

  • Have the supporting document available in case of inspection.

Who Must Complete It?

  • The head of the household may complete the process directly using the official digital tool.

  • Alternatively, the task may be outsourced through an external occupational risk prevention service.

Non-Compliance and Penalties

Failure to comply with this obligation may result in financial penalties imposed by the Labour Inspectorate, similar to those already in force under the domestic employment regime:

  • Fines for lack of a contract or improper employment conditions (up to €7,500).

  • Fines for failure to register the worker with Social Security (up to €12,000).

  • Fines for not meeting the minimum wage or for failing to implement preventive measures.
